Some of the things you need to know about mobile phone applications!
If you are new to mobile phone development then here are a few things you might want to know.
Using Browser Based Applications
- A browser based application is a bit like a mini or condensed website. Mobile phone users can view your mobile or mini website with ease as it is designed to work within their screen size. This is arguably the most cost effective option and works on most web enabled phones. However it lacks flexibility and will not look as appealing as a bespoke application.
Downloading an application to the actual users phone
- If you design an application to be stored on a user’s phone, so something they will download rather than looked at via the internet, then the design of that application is bespoke, flexible and designed specifically for a phone/platform. This is why iPhone applications are so popular and why iPhone is also so successful. This is a bit more difficult to plan and develop but this method offers you much greater flexibility, control and design capability.
Deciding which platform and mobile products to target
- If you decide that a bespoke mobile phone application is the right course of action then the next step is deciding which platform is best i.e. 17% of all phones sold are iPhone and 14% of all phones are blackberry’s. Each of these platforms requires a bespoke application. There are 5 main platforms to consider. For more details on this, please contact mVenture.
Knowing that people will be able to view and use your application
- Users update their devices on average every 18 months. Soon, everyone will have a smartphone and will be searching for applications and mobile ready websites.
Making sure your designer/developer is approved
- Designers of mobile applications do need to be approved. We are registered and authorised iPhone developers on the Apple development program with access to resources, information and development tools only available to members.
